Lana spent 5 years working for the local Aboriginal community with Mungabareena Aboriginal Corporation coordinating the ‘Build Ya Life' Program for Indigenous young people. This involved working towards securing education, employment and training opportunities for young people, as well as providing support for young people in accessing mainstream service providers and breaking down barriers. Lana still maintains a strong interest in Aboriginal families and communities and is a strong advocate for Aboriginal Affairs.
Lana currently works for NELLEN (the North East Local Learning and Employment network) in Wodonga, focusing on implementing career and transition supports for young people. This work involves brokering partnership across schools, industry and communities that meet the needs of young people and address barrier issues. Her experience and qualifications positions Lana well for delivering Resilience Doughnut Training to schools, industry, young people, families and communities.
Lana has also been involved in:
- Running youth events - National Youth Week, FReeZA Events etc
- Youth networks in the Hume region and state wide youth networks
- Securing funding opportunities for programs assisting young people
